Toyota Australia, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation disclosed on February 21, 2019, that it has suffered a cyber attack. However, the motor company confirmed that no private data of employees or customers were compromised in the attack.
What was the immediate action taken?
“At this stage, we believe no private employee or customer data has been accessed. The threat is being managed by our IT department who is working closely with international cybersecurity experts to get systems up and running again,” Toyota Australia said.
“At this stage, we have no further details about the origin of the attack. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their patience,” the motor company added.
Processing of incoming cars will be affected
The 3AW radio station reported that a caller to the station said that the cyber attack at Toyota will most likely affect the processing of incoming cars but Toyota has not disclosed this.
“A caller suggested it will affect the processing of incoming cars, but Toyota has not confirmed that is the case,” 3AW reported.
The caller further told 3AW that workers were sent home after the attack, however, Toyota Australia said that some managers allowed their staff to leave early but there was no such company directive.
