Jim Nielsen, the superintendent of Orchard View Schools notified students’ parents about the data breach via a Facebook post and a notice in the district’s website. In the security notification, Nielsen stated that the school became aware of the incident last week and that the data breach is limited only to the high school.
What was the immediate action taken?
However, how the students gained access to the information system, and how many students data have been modified still remains unknown.
“Late last week, we became aware of a data breach in PowerSchool, our student information system. At this time, the breach appears to be limited to high school. We immediately launched an internal investigation and have found some unauthorized changes have been made to grades and attendance. The investigation is still ongoing. We have notified the parents of the students we know were involved. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me,” the notification read.
