Hackers breached Titan Manufacturing company’s computer system stealing customer data

• Attackers used a malware attack to compromise Titan’s system and steal customer data.
• The compromised information includes customers’ full names, billing addresses, contact numbers, payment card details such as card numbers, expiration dates, and verification codes.

An IT security expert reported to Titan Manufacturing and Distribution Inc that its computer system has been compromised by malware for almost a year from approximately November 23, 2017, until October 25, 2018.

Upon learning bout the incident, Titan notified its customers about the incident. The company disclosed in the notice that the customers who purchased goods from its online stores between November 23, 2017, and October 25, 2018, might have been affected by the incident.

“Titan Manufacturing and Distributing, Inc. (“Titan”) values your business and recognizes the importance of the security of your information. For these reasons, we are writing to let you know, as a precautionary measure, that Titan has been the victim of a data security incident that may involve your information,” the notice read.

What was compromised?

The company stated that it does not store customer information, however, the malware installed in the company’s system could have accessed customers’ shopping cart including information such as customers’ full names, billing addresses, contact numbers, payment card details such as card numbers, expiration dates, and verification codes.

What actions were taken?

• Titan is working closely with a third-party IT security expert to investigate the incident.
• The company is providing one one-year complimentary identity theft protection services for all potentially affected customers.
• It has taken additional steps to enhance their security system by moving its computer system to a new server, deleting and resetting all administrative login credentials.
• The company has further requested its customers to stay vigilant by regularly monitoring their credit card statements for any suspicious activities and immediately reporting them.
