Dominion National, an insurer and administrator of dental and vision benefits disclosed that it suffered a data breach impacting the personal information of some of its former and current members.
What happened?
Dominion National was notified about a security incident through an internal alert. Following this, it immediately retained a leading cybersecurity firm and launched an investigation. On April 24, 2019, DN determined that an unauthorized party gained access to some of its computer servers since August 25, 2010.
What was compromised?
The compromised servers included enrollment data and demographic details for current and former members as well as for individuals who affiliated to the dental and vision benefits.
What was the immediate action taken?
“We have no evidence that any information was in fact accessed, acquired, or misused.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are offering a two-year membership to ID Experts® MyIDCare™, which includes credit monitoring and fraud protection services, for any potentially affected individual,” Dominion National said in a security notice.
