Cryptocurrency exchange platforms DragonEx and CoinBene hit by cyber attacks

Worth noting - Both crypto portals have disclosed the hacks and stated that they have gone into maintenance mode to investigate the incident and retrieve back the stolen assets.

DragonEx hack

DragonEx notified that it suffered an attack on March 24, 2019, compromising its platform assets and users’ assets.

• DraginEx has notified several judicial administrations including Estonia, Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong about the incident.
• The cryptocurrency exchange platform has notified the Police department to investigate the incident.
• It has retrieved back a part of the stolen assets and is currently working to retrieve back the rest of the stolen assets.

“All platform services will be closed and the asset loss recovery situation will be announced in a week. For the loss caused to our users, DragonEx will take responsibility no matter what,” DragonEx said in an announcement.

Joanne Long of DragonEx said in a Telegram post that the stolen assets were transferred to various address.

“After investigation, the stolen assets from DragonEx were transferred to the following address, we earnestly request help from all our fellow exchanges and other industry strength, please help us to investigate and traced the assets, freeze them and stop the assets flows.

CoinBene hack

CoinBene denied the hack and tweeted that the platform has gone under maintenance to upgrade its wallet and helps its users and partners avoid market risk.

“#Announcement Somebody doubt CoinBene was attacked by hacker recently because our maintenance. We CoinBene are so sorry that made everyone worried for this problem,” the tweet read.

• CoinBene confirmed that user assets on CoinBene platform are 100% secure and in case of any user assets being stolen, it will compensate 100%.
• However, security expert Nick Schteringard tweeted that CoinBene wallet was hacked.
