What happened?
Attackers implanted malware on point-of-sale systems at 102 Checkers and Rally’s locations in order to steal customers’ payment card data.
What information was compromised?
The payment card information stored on the magnetic stripe of payment cards including cardholder names, payment card numbers, card verification codes, and expiration dates, have been compromised.
What was the immediate action taken?
Checkers requested its customers to remain vigilant by reviewing their account statements for suspicious activity.
“It is important to understand that not all Checkers and Rally’s restaurants were affected by this issue. In addition, not all guests who visited the listed restaurants during the relevant time periods are affected by this issue,” Checkers said in a data breach notice.
