In a not-so-sweet turn of events, Delta Dental disclosed a MOVEit breach that affected around seven million people. Hunter International strikes again, this time its victim is the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The ransomware group allegedly made off with 533GB of data. Circling back to data breaches, MongoDB experienced one. The breach impacted sensitive customer data. Here are the top 10 highlights from the weekend.

Delta Dental of California and its affiliates disclosed a MOVEit data breach that compromised the names, financial account numbers, and credit/debit card numbers with security codes of almost seven million patients.

The Hunters International ransomware group claimed to have hacked into the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center’s systems and threatened to leak 533GB of stolen data.

MongoDB experienced a data breach, resulting in unauthorized access to customer account metadata and contact information, although data stored in MongoDB Atlas was not compromised.

The central bank of Lesotho, a country in southern Africa, reported facing severe disruptions due to a cyberattack, ??leading to system suspensions and potential delays in payments.

Microsoft warned that QakBot is being propagated via a new campaign pretending to be an email from an IRS employee. It was first observed on December 11 targeting the hospitality industry.

The Campbell County School District in Kentucky experienced a ransomware attack, allowing unauthorized access to employee files containing sensitive information such as SSNs and financial account numbers.

Newfound Area School District, New Hampshire, is recovering from a ransomware attack that locked users out of their computer network, but no financial demand was made by the attackers.

New York-based cybersecurity startup Xeol raised $3.2 million in a seed funding round led by Shield Capital, with participation from Y Combinator and 468 Capital.
